Pakistan Railways has announced a nationwide modernization initiative aimed at transforming the country’s railway infrastructure and improving transport efficiency. Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi confirmed that the government is moving ahead with major upgrades including railway track rehabilitation, digital ticketing systems, freight expansion, and modernization of railway stations across the country.Key projects include the replacement and upgrading of the critical Rohri–Karachi railway track to improve train speed, safety, and operational reliability. Authorities are also evaluating plans for a future high-speed rail service connecting Lahore and Rawalpindi, designed to reduce travel time and enhance intercity mobility.Officials stated that the modernization drive will help strengthen Pakistan’s transport sector, improve cargo logistics, support economic growth, and provide better passenger services nationwide.
