Pakistan’s transport sector is witnessing major developments aimed at improving mobility, reducing public travel costs, and modernizing urban transportation systems. Several new initiatives announced by provincial governments are expected to benefit commuters, students, women, and daily travelers across the country.
Sindh Expands EV Program for Women
The Sindh government has announced the purchase of 1,000 additional Pink EV scooters to empower women with safer and more affordable transportation options. The initiative is part of the province’s growing focus on electric mobility and women-friendly transport solutions.
In addition, new inter-city bus routes are set to launch in Larkana, Dadu, and Hyderabad, improving regional connectivity and easing travel for thousands of passengers.
Punjab Likely to Extend Free Public Transport
In Punjab, commuters may continue enjoying free travel on the Orange Line Metro Train, Metro Bus, and Speedo Bus services through the month of May. The relief initiative has provided significant support to students, workers, and low-income families facing rising transportation expenses.
New Motorcycle Policy for Teen Riders
A major legal change now allows 16-year-olds to ride motorcycles under a newly introduced “Juvenile Driving Permit.” The policy includes strict safety conditions and aims to regulate underage riding while improving road safety awareness among young riders.
Karachi Infrastructure Boost
The Sindh High Court has directed authorities to make Karachi’s busy University Road fully operational within two months. The order comes as part of efforts to reduce severe traffic congestion and improve daily commuting conditions in the city.
These developments reflect Pakistan’s broader push toward affordable, modern, and inclusive transportation systems, with a strong emphasis on public relief, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainable mobility.
