Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Reveals Hyperloop Network Plan

NEOM, Saudi Arabia’s futuristic $500 billion megacity project, has revealed plans for an integrated hyperloop network that will connect its various districts at speeds of up to 1,000 km/h, making it the first city in the world to be built around hyperloop transport as primary mobility infrastructure.

The network will link THE LINE โ€” NEOM’s 170-km linear city โ€” with Sindalah Island, TROJENA mountain resort, and Oxagon industrial port city, effectively creating a metropolitan area spanning 20,000 sq km where every point is within 30 minutes of every other. The hyperloop pods will carry up to 50 passengers or 5 tonnes of cargo per journey.

Hyperloop development contract has been awarded to a consortium including Virgin Hyperloop, Aecom, and Orascom Construction. The first 45-km operational segment connecting THE LINE’s northern and southern terminals is scheduled to be fully operational by 2030.
