Uber Eats has announced the rollout of 10,000 electric bicycles across six major Asian cities as part of its commitment to carbon-neutral last-mile delivery by 2030. The initiative, starting in Jakarta, Manila, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Colombo, and Dhaka, represents one of the largest e-bike deployments in the region.
The fleet comprises custom-built cargo e-bikes designed to carry multiple food orders simultaneously, with integrated thermal bags and GPS tracking. Riders will be offered preferential lease terms and income guarantees during the transition period.
The move comes amid growing pressure from city governments in Southeast Asia to reduce motorcycle emissions, which are a major contributor to urban air pollution. Several cities have already introduced low-emission zones that restrict conventional motorbikes.
