Royal Caribbean’s “Icon of the Seas” Breaks All Cruise Records

🗓 👁 7 Views ⏱ 1 min read

Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas has shattered every performance record in cruise industry history in its first year of operation, carrying over 1.2 million passengers and generating $2.8 billion in revenue — making it the most financially successful single vessel ever deployed.

The 365-metre ship, the largest cruise vessel ever built, features 20 decks, 7 pools including the largest waterpark at sea, 40 restaurants, a full-size ice skating rink, and accommodations for 7,600 guests and 2,350 crew members.

Royal Caribbean has now ordered two sister ships — Star of the Seas, launching in 2025, and a third unnamed vessel for 2027 — based on the overwhelming commercial success of the Icon. All three ships run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), reducing emissions by 20% compared to traditional heavy fuel oil.
